About Us
My name is Melody Lucas, the creator of Blessed with Cents. Stories of finding pennies have become an underlying oddity and a sign of good fortune in my family for years. After my strong-willed mother and religious step-father passed away, family members started finding pennies. We related the lost pennies to songs and poems about pennies from heaven. Supposedly, the coins are tossed down by angels to brighten the finder's day. Since my family is comprised of a combination of believers in religion, superstition and luck, found pennies had to mean good for the finder.
The pennies kept popping up in the oddest places. Finding the pennies could have been scary to others, but to us - we just smiled and knew we were having a lucky day. We felt BLESSED. We usually would stick the pennies in our pockets to spend later or try our luck at the closest raffle, lotto or casino! We felt charmed..
We felt lucky!
Was there another plan for the cents? The pennies always make our family feel confident and lucky. Could we pass the feeling of confidence to others? A fool relies on luck for everything, but if we could help others feel positive - we would receive a great blessing also.
What was I suppose to do with all my penny thoughts? Pennies can be unique lucky pieces. Pennies can represent blessings, money cents, common sense, opportunities for luck, a hopeful feeling, trusting in God and a thankfulness for our liberties.
One night ....the idea of the company Blessed with Cents...came to me. Although Blessed with Cents sounds so religious, the words have various meanings. Personally, I am a work in progress, but I have grown to have some common sense (cents) here and there. Another word that hits home to a Christian soul is "Blessed". We count our many blessings daily. I felt the name Blessed with Cents would work perfect for gifts that preserve pennies as gift items. Penny gift items would be special because of the "In God We Trust" and for referencing Liberty. With our hard times in th economy and in our lives, gifts that remind us of hope, liberty, trust in God, opportunities and blessings are essential. I want to take pennies and make dollars. I want to find a way to preserve pennies as gifts. The unique gifts sold through Blessed with Cents will be offered at reasonable prices. A portion of the profit from several gifts will be donated as Christmas gifts for the elderly and children.
With the right foundation, Blessed with Cents should also be blessed.
Whether it is religion, a perception of luck, a feeling of being charmed...life is good..and being blessed with cents and sense is great!
For those that know me, they are aware I've been involved in business, finance, customer service and charity for over 30 years. The business part of me strives to keep marketing and inventory costs to a minimum. Blessed with Cents will use "word of mouth" and common sense marketing to build our reputation and confidence with customers. I urge and welcome customers to keep suggestions flowing. E-mail great ideas to me. I can't wait to show off our first products! The items are in the final phases of production and I am convinced that you'll love them. We want a WIN-WIN situation. So far, I'm receiving solid support from family and friends that want to assist.
